Create a Calculation Measure Using Answers
Before you create calculation measures in the metadata using the Administration Tool, you create a calculation measure using Answers. You do this so you can compare your results later when you create similar calculations measures in the repository.
To create a calculation measure using Answers, perform the following steps:
| 1. | Click the Criteria tab. The request from the previous set of steps should still be open. |
| 2. | Add another Amount Sold column to the request. |
| 3. | Click the Edit Formula button for the Amount Sold column that you just added. |
| 4. | The Edit Column Formula dialog box displays with "Sales Facts"."Amount Sold" in the Column formula field. |
| 5. | In the Edit Column Formula dialog box, click to the right of "Sales Facts"."Amount Sold" in the Column Formula field. |
| 6. | Click the Minus operator to add it to the formula. |
| 7. | In the left panel, click Sales Facts > Unit Cost to add it to the formula. |
| 8. | Click the Custom Headings check box. |
| 9. | In the Custom Heading field, type Gross Profit. |
| 10. | Click OK to close the Edit Column Formula dialog box and verify the change to the request. |
| 11. | Click Results. |
| 12. | Click Settings > Administration > Manage Sessions > View Log to view the query log. |
| 13. | Leave Answers open for the next topic. |
